Buck Owens Personal 1958 Chevy Impala Convertible

This is my 1958 Chevy Impala Conv. Formerly owned by Country Music singer and Bakersfield, Ca Icon Buck Owens. In early Feb of this yr (2018) I caught wind of a 58 Impala at a mechanic shop that was supposed to be for sale and happened to be Buck Owens car, Well I have always known that Mr Buck owned a 58 Conv. but had never seen the car, So I immediately drove to Chucks Automotive in Bakersfield where the 58 Impala was seen, but unfortunately it was gone, Off to get detailed. I spoke with Mr Joe (Great Guy) at Chucks Automotive and he put me in touch with Mr Jim Shaw which is a Former (Buckaroo) Band mate of Bucks. Mr Jim began to tell me Mr Bucks Family was getting the car ready to be auctioned off and that it wasn’t for sale, But I wouldn’t take “No” for an answer. Mr Jim allowed me a few days later to go see the car once it got back from getting detailed. After looking it over I told Jim “I’ll take it” and he laughed being that the car was technically not For Sale. Mr Jim and I talked for a little while and I expressed my Love for 58 Impala’s and at that time I owned (2) Conv. and a Hardtop, After a long good talk with Mr Jim I think he realized I was crazy and he wanted me gone, Haha... But he told me that he thought I was the right person for the car, Which was awesome to hear. He then told me he would talk to The Owens Family and ask to consider me to Own the car, But he couldn’t Guarantee me anything, Being that it was up to The Owens Family, He said he’d call me the next day. Friday came around and I received Mr Jim’s phone call about 11:00 am and he tells me there’s Good news and Bad news, The good news is Mr Bucks Family has chosen me to own the 58 Chevy and The Bad news is the price. I accepted the Deal without thinking twice, Especially knowing I wasn’t the only person wanting to buy the 58 Chevy, So we made the deal over the phone, We scheduled to finalize our deal the following Monday which turned out to be a Holiday so we set it for Tuesday. I called Mr Jim Tuesday morning to let him know I was on my way and he tells me The Owens Family has a Gift for me. I arrived to The KUZZ building on Buck Owens Blvd in Bakersfield and walked into Mr Jim’s office, We sat there, Talked, He told me stories about the 58 Chevy and of Mr Buck. We finalized our Deal and he says “Oh the gift”, He walks behind a couch and pulls out a Box, Opens the box and pulls out a Signature Buck Owens Red, White and Blue guitar, I was floored and lost for words... Mr Jim and The Owens Family even had a Plaque made for the guitar dedicated to me, I asked Mr Jim to autograph it for me which he did. What an awesome experience it was purchasing the 58 Chevy and dealing directly with Mr Jim Shaw, Couldn’t have asked for better people to deal with, THANK YOU... It was a frame off restoration from the early 80's, Buck purchased the 58 Chevy in the mid 80's for $25,000 out of Los Angeles, Ca. And kept it in his collection up until early this yr when I aquired it. The 58 was stolen sometime around 2000, It went missing for a few weeks until a nice reward was offered and they got a tip to where it was found, I've been told some cool stories about this 58 Chevy. Its exactly how Mr Buck Owens owned it other than the original Foxcraft cruiser skirts I out on the car, They clamp on and are easily removable, I don't plan on doing anything to it, I will leave it as Mr Buck had it, It also still has its 70's Blue California license plates.
